Beach Clean Up

Saturday I joined my friend Nicole Kelley, Miss Earth United States on her beach cleanup in Daytona.

It was part of the International Coastal Clean-up put on by Ocean Conservancy's. We as a group joined by Cadie Hill Miss United Stated Teen Water and a fellow environmental enthusiast picked up over 25 pounds of trash and recyclables.



Let me just say that there were tons of cigarette butts and I don't think there was any feasible way to get every single on in a two hour time span. I had a wonderful time cleaning up the beach as well as hanging out my other pageant women who are dedicated to the environment.

Miss Daytona Beach May 1, 2011

Today I was asked to be the host of the Miss Daytona Beach USA pageant. It was an amazing experience and a great practice for the state competition. When we asked all of the traveling titleholders to come on stage I put my extemporaneous speaking skills to work and started asking the hard hitting questions, or more just name and title with a little padding here or there. Three girls were crowned tonight but all of them did such an amazing job. I can't wait to attend my next pageant in the future, having been on both sides of the spectrum it is truly a job to be an amazing titleholder!

Photogenic vs Telegenic

I must confess..I'm not that photogenic in my opinion. I have taken a mini class with Kim of Exquisite Coaching and learned what was my best angle to not look like a 12 year old (hint hint..that's why I try to stay towards the center and have full on frontal photos). I say this to state that late last year and before my bout of influenza I participated in a tv commercial on a whim. I did it more so to say that I had done something and check it off my list. I also learned through my pageant career that I am not the focus of the commercial and merely a seller of a product. Below is a photo and video from the same shoot, you be the judge. Here is another promo I did last year for Miss Florida USA sponsorship package. I really had to mentally prepare for the fact that this was not about me and more so about the product. So all in all I think this post was more about remember that everything is not about you.
