National HIV/AIDS Testing Day


This past Saturday I had the opportunity to help out at Volusia County Health Departments program for National Testing Day for HIV/AIDS in which they were doing free 20 minute rapid test to anyone who wanted one. I was able to answer any questions that came my way about HIV/AIDS and the Miss Florida USA system. Which for me was a great chance to explain my platform of bringing the education about HIV/AIDS back to the spotlight and helping to get more people tested. There is certainly a stigma attached to who everyone thinks contracts the disease and I'm here to tell you that's not true. Only a week until I leave for Miss Florida USA getting excited.

Miss St. Petersburg USA

Better late than never. A couple of weeks ago myself and Nicole Kelley Miss Earth Untied States attended the Miss St. Petersburg pageant across the state to cheer on our friend Collins Medlin who was competing. It was an excellent pageant and I'm happy to say that Collins won! Collins will go on to compete at the Miss Florida USA pageant this July in Hollywood, Florida. Miss Daytona Beach May 1, 2011

Today I was asked to be the host of the Miss Daytona Beach USA pageant. It was an amazing experience and a great practice for the state competition. When we asked all of the traveling titleholders to come on stage I put my extemporaneous speaking skills to work and started asking the hard hitting questions, or more just name and title with a little padding here or there. Three girls were crowned tonight but all of them did such an amazing job. I can't wait to attend my next pageant in the future, having been on both sides of the spectrum it is truly a job to be an amazing titleholder! <3 Miss West Volusia USA
